BJORNULF DYRUD
BIOGRAPHY
Bjørnulf Dyrud was born in 1959 in Vestre Toten (Norway) and has been active in all kinds of art forms from early childhood. The family took part in various musical activities and Dyrud began to play classical piano at the age of eight. Twelve years old he began to play the drums in the local brass band and at fifteen added various local bands to his list. He was also pianist in the district orchestra and subsequently spent two years at Toneheim Folkehøyskole in Hamar. (A college specializing in music). He now plays guitar and is vocalist in a group playing irish folkmusic.
After high school he took preliminary examinations in philosophy at the university of Oslo, followed by a five year training in the performing arts. This led him to Switzerland where he worked as a professional stage artist for four years. During all this time he worked continuously with visual arts (incl. photography). After his return to Norway the visual arts became more and more important and from 1997 the process started which led to it becoming his main source of income from 2004.
Dyrud has held exhibitions over the whole of southern Norway, Svalbard(Spitzbergen) and USA(California). His pictures have been bought for exhibitions by numerous people, both privately and for institutions.
His artistic expression tends in the direction of lyrical abstraction where elements of man and nature can be discerned.
Bjørnulf Dyrud lives and works in Hamar, Norway.
