I have been sketching/drawing since I was very young. Having done some formal training in school, I started to paint more regularly when I was at home looking after my children about 17 years ago. Having sold a few paintings privately, I realized that people liked what I did. I learned painting and art from various established artists, soaking in all the rules of watercolour, oil pastels, and chalk, and then I broke all the rules! I also began dabbling in acrylics a couple of years ago and I also enjoy calligraphy.
I now work with pencil, ink, charcoal and oil pastels on canvas. Talk about breaking the rules!
My background, as well as places I have lived, fuel my passion, as I am Indian, born in Africa (Kenya), studied in London and finally settled in Australia. My paintings reflect these experiences.
I dance, love music (having played the sitar when young) and have a colourful life.
I am a breast cancer survivor and after having extensive surgery followed by two years of treatment, I now know that life is too short to be just black and white.
“I am an artist inspired by nature, dance, vibrant colour and movement.
All my paintings have undertones of momentum and energy, never still,
but intrigue a sense of curiosity and fascination”
