“I’m a 32 year old artist from Germany. I discovered my passion and love for art in 2008 when I have just started my academic studies in the degree course “Industrial Design” at the Design School in Pforzheim/ Germany. Design was what I wanted to to but I had to find out quite soon that I was more talented and more passioned in painting and drawing than doing the design stuff. Fortunately the school program intended to train and encourage the students in the fine arts additional to the design courses. When I finished studies in 2012 I already knew that I didn’t want to work as an industrial designer but I wasn’t yet courageous and confident enough for trying to do paintig/ drawing for my living although I knew this was what I wanted to do. Three years later after having suffered in a job that did not fit to me I finally decided to quit this work. It was probably the best decision I ever made because now I feel so happy and free beeing a fultime artist. It’s satisfying to do what I love and I am thankful to have reached this point.
Human beeings and animals are my favourite objects for inspiration. If possible I prefer drawing from a living object because I can feel the energy much better instead of drawing from a photo. It is not my aim to show exactly what I see with my eyes. I try to see the nature of each object in order to capture this unique essence in my drawings and paintings. When I do nude drawing, the model is not only an example of a human body for me. He or she is a one-of-a-kind being.
I love expressive art. In my works I trie to transport the intensive feelings and the passion that go along with the act of drawing and painting. When I am working I can forget everything else and I can let go. It’s like giving up control and letting happen whatever happens. One thing that made me so fascinated of making art was the realization that there is no right or wrong. It is what it is. That was a completely new thing for me. It was like a big liberation beeing able to act out the energy and passion that was locked inside of me because I didn’t know how to express it. For me drawing is a process of transformation. It starts with the perception. Not only the visual one. All the senses can be “translated” into an artwork.”
